The next round of the championship is the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 30. For the three-time World Champion, it is the fourth consecutive victory and fifth overall at Silverstone equalling Jim Clark's record and the 57th of his career.

Hamilton's victory has cut his deficit to Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel to just one point in the championship as the German suffered a front-left tyre failure, who finished at the seventh spot.

Raikkonen said he was disappointed with his misfortunes, but Vettel said he did not blame the team.

Hamilton and Vettel look certain to be at the front after qualifying as Bottas has a five-place grid penalty.

The championship stands in favour of Vettel now with a 20-point buffer, but is this the weekend for some magic from Hamilton to change things around?

Sebastian Vettel faced even big problems at the end of the race.

"I still don't understand why the British hero is being beaten up before the grand prix".

Hamilton was in fine form throughout an initially wet qualifying at Silverstone and with conditions drying out for Q2 and Q3, posted a storming 1 minute 26.600 second lap in the top-ten shootout to leave him a massive 0.547 seconds up on Ferraris Kimi Raikkonen.

"I don't think there is anyone particularly to blame", he added later.

Kimi Raikkonen says everything felt normal on his vehicle just before he suffered a dramatic front-left tyre delamination in the closing laps of the British Grand Prix.

"I think I'm very fortunate as I know what is right for me and right to get myself ready".

Further back, Vettel put pressure on Verstappen, attacking down the inside of Stowe, only for the Red Bull to hold on around the outside.

"I feel awesome, especially with a great crowd like this around the track", Hamilton said.

Nico Hulkenberg finished in 6th place ahead of Vettel while Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez took P8 and P9 for Force India. At the same time, Valtteri Bottas was in contention for the podium after being forced to start in ninth to serve an engine change penalty. Verstappen and Vettel were yet again seen locking horns as the pair went side-by-side on a number of occasions but Vettel's late tyre issue worked to the advantage of the Red Bull driver.

Hamilton always gets a great lift thanks to his home crowd, and this has been especially true in recent years as the home crowd seems more supportive and appreciative for the F1 star.
