  • iPhone 8: Apple steps in to help manufacturers produce device on time

If the new iPhone with an OLED screen launches in October, none of the sales will be counted in Apple's September quarter, which could be weaker than what Wall Street is expecting.

These difficulties are also reportedly not limited to the iPhone 8's hardware.

There have been more leaks about the iPhone 8 than any other smartphone in history.

Based on a brand-new iPhone design aimed at taking Samsung on, Apple, who unlike Samsung, don't make any of their own components is struggling because of shortages of key components such as Organic Light Emitting Diode, or OLED display screens which ChannelNews understands are being made by LG, Samsung and Sharp.

Volume production of the 4.7- and 5.5-inch models at Foxconn and Pegatron are now expected to enter full swing in August, 1-2 months later than the normal mass production schedules of new iPhone devices in previous years, said the report.

Reports claim that the new iPhone will stick to its no headphone jack design with the same Lighting port.

It's an unprecedented move and one which shows just how desperate Apple is not to miss the deadline for its tenth anniversary iPhone. If these renders are accurate, then it would appear Apple has gone that route. The Touch ID, however, sitting right through the display remains a mystery. But of course this is the Internet we are talking about, where secrets are near impossible to hold onto. So to compensate, this year's iPhone 8 will feature all the upgrades which its predecessors lack.

I don't claim to know what a 3D face scanner looks like.

Kind of like the iPhone 4, but bigger, a lot less chunky and no more Home button taking up space on the front. So what is the objective of a 3D face scanner?

The images point towards the iPhone 8 coming with an 5.8-inch OLED display with a "notch" or cutout at the top for the sensors and front facing camera similar to the implementation found on Andy Rubin's delayed Essential-PH1 smartphone. The tech giant is supposed to integrate the Touch ID with display or power button. Apple is on the list - but there are nine others you may be overlooking.

She believes the September quarter will be impacted by "a slightly later iPhone launch than typical".

However, according to Huberty, the possibility of iPhone 8 delays won't decrease the demand for the new phone. This is due to the company's "big drive" into augmented reality. AR tends to work better in landscape mode which would mean that vertically-aligned camera sensors would offer a better viewing experience.
