Mr. Xi also called on "relevant parties to maintain restraint" and to "persist in the general direction of dialogue, negotiations and a political settlement", CCTV said".

The California Democrat's comments come as tensions between the USA and North Korea continue to rise.

"Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely", he wrote on Twitter.

Mr. Trump, flanked by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and USA ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, said his Cabinet is "very much in agreement" on the North Korea crisis, although his Cabinet members have toned down his rhetoric.

"I don't envision a military solution to this conflict but rather consistent work as we've observed at the United Nations Security Council", she told reporters. "And this man will not get away with what he's doing, believe me".

Trump has urged China to pressure North Korea to halt its nuclear weapons program, which North Korea says is nearing the capability of targeting the United States.

"U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called for the peaceful denuclearization of North Korea - a common goal of the global community - and stressed the importance of strengthening pressure on North Korea in diplomatic, economic terms", the South Korean spokesman said.

President Donald Trump later offered reassurance to residents of Guam.

On Thursday North Korea threatened to use its young people to "blow the USA from this planet". "He owes that to the American people and I call on the president to do that first before issuing provocative and senseless and reckless statements".

The North Korean leader responded by calling Trump's comments "a lot of nonsense" and published plans to launch missiles to land in waters close to the U.S. territory of Guam. But he says that, until that happens, the U.S.

Trump on Friday issued fresh threats of swift and forceful retaliation against nuclear North Korea, declaring the USA military "locked and loaded" and warning that the communist country's leader, Kim Jong Un, would "regret it fast" if he takes any action against US territories or allies.

He said North Korea "should be very, very nervous".

Tensions have risen since North Korea tested two intercontinental ballistic missiles in July.

"China should also make clear that if North Korea launches missiles that threaten USA soil first and the US retaliates, China will stay neutral", the editorial read. But the editorial also warned that China would seek to stop the us and South Korea from any effort at regime change in North Korea.
