With the death toll in flood-affected Nepal crossing 50, India on Sunday said that it was ready to support and cooperate its neighbour in all ways and means.

More than 30 people were reported dead on Saturday.

Five thousand and six hundred trained personnel of the Nepal Police, one thousand 700 APF personnel, and 8,300 Nepalese Army personnel, as well as helicopters, have been mobilized for search and rescue operation, the Ministry has stated.

Home Minister Janardan Sharma said hi-level talks are on between the two countries to open all the gates.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has been asked to manage health workers with medicines in flood and landslide affected areas. "We are also providing relief to the victims".

At least 17 people are still missing.

Footage aired on Nepali broadcasters showed villagers wading through waist-high water with their belongings and using boats to reach higher ground.

"There isn't a house without water".

Those rescued and evacuated have been sheltered at schools and other facilities, while the District Disaster Relief Committee has made arrangements for providing food to them.

In the eastern city of Biratnagar, the airport was closed after the runway was submerged under more than 2 feet of water.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed his condolences and urged people to remain. "All four security agencies have already swung into action", he said in a video recording on Saturday.

Almost 100 people died past year in Nepal during the rainy season, which typically begins in late June and lasts until the end of August.
