James Damore, the software engineer fired by Google for circulating a 10-page manifesto inside the company that suggested women might be under-represented in tech generally and "leadership" inside the company due to their biology, has described the company as "almost like a cult" in an opinion column published the Wall Street Journal. Google's Mountain View headquarters, along with other US offices of the company, will be targeted in the August 19 event, Posobiec said. The document slammed Google's "politically correct monoculture" and advanced gender stereotypes about women in the workplace.
It was not immediately clear what legal authority Damore could try to invoke.

"For many, including myself, working at Google is a major part of their identity, nearly like a cult with its own leaders and saints, all believed to righteously uphold the sacred motto of 'Don't be evil, ' he wrote". At such a juncture, employing a person who just published a 10-page document promoting discrimination is obviously problematic.
Damore concludes that "the viewpoint I was putting forward is generally suppressed at Google" but it was because of the "giant media controversy" that he was let go. Some of the Google employees also identified as gay or supportive of diversity efforts. "Diversity and inclusion are a fundamental part of our values and the culture we continue to cultivate".
Brown and Google CEO Sundar Pichai condemned parts of the memo that weekend.
Following Damore's memo, some "minority Googlers" were hurt by the "perception they are less qualified", according to one question posted to the company's internal message boards for the all-hands meeting.
The engineer, who has a doctoral degree in systems biology from Harvard University, according to his LinkedIn page, attacked the idea that gender diversity should be a goal.
Damore disagrees with how the company reacted to his post, claiming that he only meant to say men and women differ due to biological reasons and that is why there are not so many female representatives in leadership positions and in the tech industry.
