  • Man Utd re-open Perisic talks; close to meeting Inter asking price

Manchester United target Ivan Perisic could be a summer target for Barcelona as they look to replace the newly crowned worlds most expensive player, Neymar.

Inter Milan have slapped an asking price of around £48m for the transfer of Perisic, something Barcelona could comfortably afford after the sale of Neymar, which was paid in full by the Ligue 1 club.

United have added defender Victor Lindelof, defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic and striker Romelu Lukaku, but that's only 75% of what Mourinho wanted to do in the transfer market this summer, as he also wanted a new left-sided midfielder.

It seems the deal is now back on as the Mirror claim today that United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has now reopened talks with Perisic's agent Fali Ramadani in a bid to resurrect the transfer.

The Croatian worldwide, who impressed for his country at Euro 2016, offers the potent attacking play and defensive work rate that Mourinho is looking for, meaning he could be the ideal left winger in this United side.

"I'll be happier if they give me four of four, but they did a great effort", Mourinho was quoted as saying by United's official website.

Speaking ahead of the European Super Cup after being asked about Perisic moving to the Theatre of Dreams, Mourinho was effusive in his praise for the Italian club, admitting that the club did all they could do to keep one of their best players.

Perisic created more clear-cut goal-scoring chances than any other player in Serie A last season and contributed with 11 goals and as many assists in 36 league games.
