Nigeria's Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been the acting president since Buhari left the country.

He said there is tremendous improvement in his health and that he wishes to return home.

The statement was accompanied by images posted to Twitter and Facebook of Buhari meeting with Nigeria's information minister and other aides at Abuja House in London on Saturday.

The visit came on the heels of the protest by the OurMumuDonDo movement asking the President to return home or resign, which rocked Abuja, the federal capital, for most of last week.

Nigeria's president says he feels healthy enough to return home from medical leave in Britain, and is awaiting his doctor's permission. "Here, the doctors are absolutely in charge".

The health of Nigeria's leaders has been a sensitive issue since the death in office of president Umaru Musa Yar'Adua in 2010 after months of treatment overseas.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president said his obedience to his doctors helped in improving his health.

According to the coalition, the solidarity walk became necessary following the recent and unfortunate political happenings in Nigeria bordering on the news peddled about the medical vacation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

They included Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina; Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu; Senior Special Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa; Special Assistant on social media, Lauretta Onochie and official Presidential photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo. "I have now learnt to obey orders, rather than be obeyed", the president reportedly said.

President Buhari sent appreciation to all Nigerians, expressing hope that he would be with them soon. It gave us a lot of latitude.
