"I think there are elements inside of Washington, also inclusive of the White House, that are not necessarily abetting the president's interests or his agenda", Scaramucci told ABC's George Stephanopoulos in his first appearance since he was sacked from his role after only 10 days.

Asked if he believed "Bannonbart" had an influence on President Trump's thinking, Scaramucci replied: "I would say no".

"There were probably one or two people who wanted me in that job", including Trump, Scaramucci said.

Trump has come under intense criticism for his apparent unwillingness to condemn white supremacists, instead saying "many sides" were responsible for the violence in Charlottesville. Last month, New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza wrote about a phone conservation he had with Scaramucci in which the former White House communications director unleashed a profanity-filled rant against Bannon.

In his first television appearance since being fired last month, Mr Scaramucci told United States broadcaster ABC that there were "elements" within the White House trying to eject Mr Trump, and he had "named some names".

Establishment Republican lawyer Richard Painter also chimed in on MSNBC, demanding that not only should Bannon go, but Sebastian Gorka, another prominent rightist within the administration, should also be fired, repeatedly calling them "neofascists".

Bannon's ties to Breitbart have remained an ongoing source of controversy, but his allies in the White House told Politico that the president should think twice before banishing Bannon from the administration altogether. I'm sure Bannon also would have preferred a more populist-flavored health-care bill to the Medicaid-slashing proposal that passed the House and quickly turned toxic in public opinion polls.

"Anytime that you commit an attack against people to incite fear, it meets the definition of terrorism", McMaster said.

'I wish him well, ' Scaramucci said of Kelly.

ABC's Klein again attempted to link Steve Bannon with white nationalism, despite Breitbart News' internal, effortless diversity. He said that Bannon's influence "is not as great as you would think".

"He likes doing the opposite of what the media thinks he's going to do".

But senior White House aides, including homeland security assistant Tom Bossert, sought to clarify Trump's comments that "many sides" were to blame for the violence in appearances on talk shows Sunday morning.

Scaramucci said he does not know, but added, "The toleration of it by Steve Bannon is inexcusable".

Stephanopoulos asked him for more details.

He left open the possibility of appearing on "Saturday Night Live" or "Dancing with the Stars", although he said, "I don't think I am a very good dancer".
