  • 2 Officers Injured During Courtroom Chaos

Another female officer suffered a hand injury before Patterson was taken into custody, police said.

The officers both went to the hospital after the incident, but were later released.

Dimitri Patterson, 34, was at the Lawson E. Thomas Court Center when the judge ordered he be taken into custody, Miami-Dade Police said.

"Some type of scuffle where the police or bailiffs or officers-two of them got involved", court interpreter Lucille Grenet said.

Patterson, who was was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2005, also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets. At that time, he tried to run out of the door and tackled a female officer who fell and hit her head, while another officer suffered a wrist injury before Patterson was taken into custody.

Court records show Patterson was eventually acquitted for culpable negligence and battery. "For whatever the reason, the person was resisting".

He was previously arrested on a felony child abuse charge in 2015 at Aventura Mall.

His tenure in NY ended before the season even began, but Patterson still managed to make headlines. According to a police report obtained by Miami's Local 10 ABC, Patterson met with his ex-girlfriend to pick up their 1-year-old son when they began to argue over child support payments. The former National Football League cornerback played for the Dolphins from 2012 to 2013 and retired in 2014 after a brief stint with the New York Jets.
