In India, there have been 239 fatalities, in Nepal 128 deaths and another 39 in Bangladesh.

At least 115 people have died and more than 5.7 million are affected in Bangladesh as floods submerged more than a third of the low-lying and densely populated country. Some 10,000 emergency workers and soldiers were supporting local officials in relief and rescue operations.

Almost 400,000 people have sought shelter in relief camps and an estimated 10 million have been affected by the flood.

A senior official in Bihar's disaster management department, Anirudh Kumar, said almost half a million people have been provided with shelter.

At least 700 people have died in the floods related to the annual monsoon in India, Nepal and Bangladesh, and over a million have had to flee the rising waters, authorities said Sunday.

"The total death toll stands at 205", Kumar told AFP.

"In Nepal, government recorded 134 dead and 30 missing in flood-affected areas", a senior journalist and director of news and current affairs of Nepal's ABC News TV, Dr. Suresh Achaya, told IPS.

The disaster management department said that cash of around 60 million taka, about 16 tonnes of rice and 36,500 packets of dry food have been distributed among the flood-affected people.

Seasonal monsoon rains, a lifeline for farmers across South Asia, typically cause loss of life and property every year between July and September, but officials say this year's flooding is the worst in several years. "The flood situation will improve if it does not rain upstream any further", Sazzad Hossain, executive engineer of Bangladesh's Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, told Reuters.

Railway connectivity between the remote region and mainland remained suspended for the sixth consecutive day following large scale damage to the tracks.

A massive landslide in India's Himachal Pradesh state swept two passenger buses off a hillside, killing 46 people on Sunday.

Almost 350 people died in the first wave of floods that began mid-July in India's western Gujarat state and several remote northeastern states.
