After the latest launch on Friday, White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said the United States of America was running out of patience with North Korea.

"While the European Union's current restrictive measures against the DPRK are already the most stringent it has in place for any country, we are already working on additional autonomous EU measures to complement the decisions taken by the United Nations", she said.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in also said dialogue with the North was impossible at this point.

The ballistic missile that was tested by North Korea this morning traveled farther than any other projectile launched by the isolated state, U.S. officials explained.

White House National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster said there is a new worldwide consensus about the need to confront Pyongyang.

This marks the second North Korea missile firing in less than three weeks, following a similar missile launch on August 29 that also flew over Hokkaido.

North Korea fired the intermediate ballistic missile over Japan that landed in the Pacific, responding to new United Nations sanctions with its furthest-ever missile flight.

He said the "final goal is to establish the equilibrium of real force with the US and make the USA rulers dare not talk about" military options against the North, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

The missile launched during Friday's test flew for about 3,700 kilometers (about 2,299 miles), reaching an altitude of 770 kilometers (about 478 miles) before landing in the Pacific Ocean.

"China supplies North Korea with most of its oil".

"North Korea continues to pose a threat to global security and stability and must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its illegal programs".

"The secretary general calls on the DPRK leadership to cease further testing, comply with the relevant Security Council resolutions, and allow space to explore the resumption of honest dialogue on denuclearization", his spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement. An ashen looking Shinzo Abe, Japan's prime minister, said his country could "never tolerate" such "dangerous provocative action that threatens world peace".

"A sharp increase in support among Republicans - possibly mirroring President Donald Trump's promise to respond with "fire and fury" to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's threats - explains much of this", Gallup said.

Tom Karako with the Center for Strategic International Studies says North Korea is thumbing its nose at sanctions.
