  • Jammu and Kashmir Two suspected militants killed after Army foils infiltration attempt in Kupwara

Two militants were killed today as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhil sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district. As Machil village lies along the border, nothing could be ascertained independently. Two AK-47 rifles and war-like stores were recovered from them, the army spokesperson said. He said the slain were buried in Machil in a local graveyard.

The search operation by security forces was suspended for few hours last night due to darkness only to be resumed with the first light this morning in the woods, official sources told UNI.

Meanwhile, violation of the ceasefire agreement by Pakistani troops continued for the second night in Jammu.

He said troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC and challenged the intruders, leading to a gunfight in which the two militants were killed.

The infiltration bid comes in the midst of a series of ceasefire violation cases by Pakistan Army. This bid was foiled after more than a month's time when last infiltration was repulsed with fatal casualties on militant side.
