British Airways plane held in Paris over 'direct security threat'

Paris Charles de Gaulle airport announced earlier on Sunday morning that an additional security check was in progress for the Paris-London flight from BritishAirway BA303.

He said passengers have remained calm despite the situation.

"The pilot then explained that there was a security threat specifically involving our flight, and each passenger and every piece of luggage was thoroughly searched", Anderson said.

After an initial search was given the all clear, passengers are being put through X-rays and body scanners by armed officers. Now hold luggage being searched by dogs'.

A security incident that delayed a British Airways flight in Paris and led to passengers deplaning was caused by a false alarm, French authorities said. The flight was scheduled to land at London Heathrow at 7:45 AM U.K. local time.

Pictures and video from the scene show police and fire engines surrounding the plane as it sits on the runway at the airport. They're being extremely thorough and we're being escorted by armed officers'.

"They need to make sure everybody and everything has been searched".

British Airways has assured passengers they will be able to board another flight later today.

British Airways said in a statement: 'The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority.

Britain has raised its terror threat level to "critical" following the bombing of a London Underground train on Friday that left 30 people injured.

An 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the bomb attack.
