US Military reports say a US citizen fighting for Daesh was captured by Kurdish soldiers in Syria and then handed over to American forces.

Earlier, Colonel Ryan Dillon, a spokesman for the US-led anti-IS coalition, said the SDF "has taken note" to ensure that any fighters they capture are brought to "the proper authorities".

Thousands of foreign fighters from around the globe flocked to Iraq and Syria after Islamic State first captured vast parts of the two countries in 2014 and proclaimed an Islamist caliphate.

Ahmed Abu Khawla, the commander of the SDF's Deir al-Zor military council, said Russian or Syrian fighter jets flew in from government territory before dawn on Saturday (local time).

According to the piece, the US -backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is predominantly led by the PKK's Syrian affiliate PYD, took him under custody.

Syrian troops with Iran-backed militias have closed in from the west since last week, while the SDF advances from the east.

The Lebanese army and Syrian regime forces, backed by Hezbollah, launched simultaneous offensives to push ISIS from the mountainous region.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that opposition activists said the convoy of buses was able to reach Deir Ezzour province, an ISIS-held area, after the coalition ended its aerial surveillance and airstrikes on the group.

US -led coalition forces had harried the convoy with constant aerial surveillance and air strikes and took out 40 vehicles and 85 fighters looking to reach it. "We refer further questions on this matter to the Department of Justice".

Brown said the American was taken into custody on or before Tuesday by Syrian Democratic Forces, a US -backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab militia fighters in Syria. As a precondition for Coalition support, SDF and Iraqi forces have pledged to observe worldwide laws and the laws of armed conflict.

"Now we are setting up a civil council parallel to the military council of Deir al-Zor, and this civilian council will run all areas freed from (Islamic State)", he said.

"Coalition officials are available and the deconfliction line with Russian Federation is open 24 hours per day", Army Lt. Gen. Paul E. Funk II, commander of the coalition forces, said Saturday in the press release.
