Gaza : Hamas says it is ready for reconciliation with Fatah

The Islamic Resistance Movement a.k.a. Hamas on Sunday announced the dissolution of its Administrative Committee that has been ruling the Gaza Strip, and called for a reconciliation government to carry out its duties in the strip, to hold elections and enter talks with the PLO, Ma'an reported.
The armed islamist movement, says he will relinquish power in Gaza strip to unity government and that administration he has put in place will be dissolved.
Hamas's statement said the move came as a direct result of Egyptian negotiations for Palestinian unity, saying it wanted talks "to achieve Palestinian reconciliation and end the division".
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas's western-backed Palestine Authority, which is controlled by Fatah, fought a war with Hamas over Gaza in 2007, which led to Hamas taking over.
Attempts by the groups to form a unity government in Gaza and the West Bank since then have failed.
Israel and Egypt have since imposed a blockade on Gaza; Egypt intermittently opens its border crossing into Gaza.
Hamas's leadership held talks with Mohammed Dahlan - the exiled former Fatah leader in Gaza whose supporters Hamas defeated when it wrested control of the territory in the 2007 civil war - amid hopes he could persuade Egypt to come to the aid of Gazans struggling under the decade-long Israeli-led blockade.
The move also comes after a series of Palestinian Authority measures created to pressure Hamas, including reduction of electricity in Gaza and cutting of salaries.
On Friday, Abbas brought an official Fatah delegation to Cairo to join the reconciliation dialogue that Egypt has been sponsoring, before which Abbas chaired a meeting for Palestine Liberation organization executive committee in Ramallah.
In March, Abbas stepped up pressure on Hamas after it formed the contentious committee that runs Gaza.
