Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who is now on a tour of Europe, said Qatar maintains its stance on dialogue to resolve the dispute with its neighbouring Arab states.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a meeting with the emir of Qatar Friday that Doha's crisis with Gulf neighbours will only be resolved through quiet diplomacy.

"And we spoke about the need for all the parties to sit at one table again as soon as possible".

Germany has been supporting diplomatic efforts to try and defuse the crisis.

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent yesterday cables of congratulations to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on the anniversary of his country's Independence Day. In its turn, Qatar denies it and says that the crisis is politically motivated.

"We can not solve the problem in public, we must use diplomacy to reach fair results to end the conflict away from public and media attention", Merkel said.

"We are fighting terrorism, but we must focus on the roots and causes of terrorism".

The Arab Federation for Human Rights has refuted allegations made by the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar about the alleged violation of worldwide law by the anti-terrorism quartet, in their boycott of Qatar.

Sheikh Tamim was expected to fly out to Paris for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron later on Friday. The Gulf dispute undermines the political resolution of crises and the collective fight against terrorism. A French frigate "Jean Bart" arrived at Qatar on Wednesday to take part in the joint military exercises of Qatar and France, as a part of the framework of the joint military cooperation between the two countries to combat terrorism and extremism.
