Texans Desperate For A Bounce Back Win In Cincinnati On Thursday Night

  • Time for Bengals to budge bench Andy Dalton for AJ McCarron

Andy Dalton threw four interceptions and lost a fumble in his season debut, posting a negative fantasy score in a 20-0 loss to the Ravens.

The Cincinnati Bengals host the Houston Texans on Thursday night in Paul Brown Stadium (8:25 p.m. ET, NFL Network), and there will be no shortage of drama for this week's game.

J.J. Watt delivered a lights-out tackle to close out the Texans vs. Bengals game with a figurative and literal bang Thursday night.

Watson's first start, coming on his 22nd birthday, was a straightforward one and his passing game will require work having nearly thrown a couple of early interceptions, but he provided the game with its only major highlight. Tom Savage started that game for Houston and finished 18-of-29 for 176 yards, no touchdowns, no picks and he was sacked four times. There is no discipline or sense of field awareness from far too many players.

Houston and Cincinnati are looking for their first win of the season after starting the Regular Season 0-1 last week.

In terms of the receiving core, DeAndre Hopkins was Watson's favorite target as he was thrown to 13 times in the game. The Bengals got the ball, but turned it over near midfield on a fourth-down completion. J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney played well for the Texans. He was under heavy pressure again Thursday while going 20 of 35 for 224 yards with three sacks and a passer rating of 76.4.

Texans vs. Bengals news:"While we can all be optimistic that Houston can continue to coast based on the strength of our defense, lack of solid divisional opponents, and scoring three points at a time, that model simply isn't realistically sustainable".

And it was clear after the game Green wasn't happy about it.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Houston's offense managed just 66 yards in the first half. "The way he was acting like he was open, I don't think he knew he stepped out". Linebacker Brian Cushing is serving a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The downside to this early season action is exposing Watson before he is ready to shoulder the responsibility.

Two plays later, Watson escaped a collapsing pocket on 3rd-and-15, broke a tackle and followed some exceptional downfield blocking en route to the game's only touchdown. With 516 total yards through two games, they rank second in the National Football League - ahead of the Texans, but behind the Kansas City Chiefs, who amassed 537 yards in their lone game against New England.
