Trump announced his decision to remove the USA from the 2015 deal in June, sparking fury from the worldwide political community and from the mainstream media - who saw the move as a blow for the global fight against climate change.

While the Trump administration officially announced in August that it plans to pull out of the agreement, there are representatives from the U.S.at the meeting in Montreal this weekend.

The climate change deniers at the White House have apparently changed their minds.

The White House insisted Saturday the United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord without more favorable terms even though European diplomats sense a softening in the USA position, AFP reports.

The Trump administration may not remove the United States from the Paris Agreement, a historic and vital 195 nation accord to reduce risky greenhouse gases.

The Paris accord, reached by almost 200 countries, was meant to limit global warming to 2 degrees or less, mainly through pledges to cut carbon dioxide and other fossil-fuel emissions.

Trump has said he wanted to renegotiate the massive agreement, whose actual withdrawal time from the pact is three years, allowing time for a USA re-think.

Canadian environment minister Catherine McKenna said the participation of a USA delegation in Montreal was a positive sign.

"We're getting out", Trump said at the time.

"Not what we need", he said. The UN has been particularly opposed to the USA withdrawal, and Trump is likely to face pressure to change his mind on the deal while he is in NY.

Is the Donald Trump administration thinking about returning to the Paris Climate Accord?

McKenna added that climate-change initiatives could create $30 trillion in economic activity.
