Samsung backed down slightly on Monday, September 18, thanks to an update that lets Galaxy S8 and Note 8 owners stop the Bixby button from launching Bixby Home, The Verge says. Unfortunately, Samsung really wanted that button to remain tied to Bixby, so it began blocking those applications.
Well, it has now changedits mind: the latest update being rolled out to SamsungGalaxy S8 handsets allows you to toggle the button's functionality on and off.
This doesn't make the button totally useless - you can still press and hold it to activate Bixby Voice. Maybe that'll be just as annoying to you as a button that summons a virtual assistant. Going forward. users will be able to disable the Bixby button within the phone's settings. And if you want to go back to Bixby home, you can still swipe left from the home screen. This has led to the users deeming the Bixby button as the most annoying in S8 and S8 Plus, even more annoying that the oddly placed fingerprint sensors.
If you own a Galaxy S8 or a Note 8 then you should see the update fairly soon.
