  • THE CW Developing Archie's SABRINA For Spin-Off Show

After months of speculation TVLine has confirmed that popular Archie Comics character Sabrina the Teenage Witch will be coming to Riverdale - but she won't be staying for very long.

The one-hour show is only in development, so don't set your DVR quite yet, but should it move forward, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina could air on The CW as early as September 2018.

Gathering around Aguirre-Sacasa's cauldron to make this happen are executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Goldwater (all EPs on Riverdale), and director Lee Toland Krieger (who has helmed the mothership drama, as well as The Age of Adaline and the Beyond pilot). The network, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. The name comes from the horror series Archie Comics is now publishing, which is set in the same continuity as the acclaimed Afterlife with Archie.

Sabrina the teenage witch is about to get the sexy noir CW treatment.

Instead, Archie Comics has confirmed that the basis for the show will be Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the show will just add a The in front to differentiate.

While Sabrina has appeared on TV before in the late '90s to early '00s sitcom with Melissa Joan Hart, this take will be much darker. The CW's adaptation will find Sabrina struggling with her dual nature as a half-witch and half-mortal, while also battling against evil forces that threaten those closest to her and the human world. Now she is getting her own series. Do you think the show will explore her magical powers? The series is aiming for the 2018-2019 TV season, so it will be some time before The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina could hit television screens.

Will the potential new Sabrina series be a spinoff of "Riverdale"?

Rumors have been swirling all summer than a new Sabrina would be cast soon, and the character made at least a guest star next season, if not a recurring character.
