  • Instagram Live Video face filters will give Snapchat deja-vu

The new sunglasses face filter is available exclusively in live video for the next week, and the the user can tap to change the scenery reflected in their lenses.

Social media app Instagram announced today that users can now employ face filters while sharing live video.

All you need to do is tap the face icon in the bottom right corner of your screen during your broadcast.

Going live on Instagram is a great way to update your friends and followers on what's happening - literally as you speak.

For those that do like a good live-stream keep checking the Instagram app. Instagram says they will be rolling out the Face Filter feature "globally over the next several weeks" which kinda makes the one-week exclusive on the Sunglasses feature redundant.

Although it dedicated a blog post to the announcement, this isn't Instagram's first foray into filters. Or, you can delete the broadcast by tapping on discard. Starting today, Instagram is beginning to push out face filters for live video.

The feature isn't available to everyone yet-and could take a couple of more weeks before it goes round.

Broadcasters are already able to save live videos to their phone after streaming after Instagram updated the feature last March.

Of course, videos won't be saved automatically on your phone all because of that update.

The option to save live stream on the phone means more people will now want to go live on Instagram. Though we all rolled our eyes when Instagram rolled out a Stories feature that seemed to borrow directly from Snapchat Stories, that move ended up working out for them - in just one year, Instagram Stories grew to 250 million active users, something that should worry Snapchat.
