Ronan Farrow speaking with Rachel Maddow on Oct. 10

"That is real. And in the course of this reporting, I was threatened with a lawsuit personally by Mr. Weinstein". And immediately, obviously, The New Yorker recognized that - and it is not accurate that it was not reportable. And while several of them would do so only anonymously - they consented to on-camera interviews with their identities disguised - there were two victims willing to go on the record with stories of harassment at the hands of the powerful Hollywood mogul.

The two men would also discuss why Farrow had to go to the New Yorker with his huge story rather than have NBC News run it, with Tapper asking Farrow what's the truth regarding how reportable the story was when presented to NBC. Yet when Maddow mentioned NBC's belief that the story wasn't "publishable", Farrow fought back. Speaking to a videographer for The Daily Mail who noted that the show had made no mention of Mr. Weinstein, Mr. Michaels said, "It's a NY thing". He was sacked from the production company he helped create over the weekend and has admitted he needs to seek counseling, even as he has threatened to sue the New York Times and media companies allege huge pressure from him and his lawyers to kill the stories. Farrow, a former MSNBC host and contributor to NBC News, was known to be originally reporting the story for NBC. "In fact, there were multiple determinations that it was reportable at NBC".

Farrow, an NBC News freelancer and investigative journalist, spent months working on the story for NBC before he brought it to The New Yorker, he said.

What's more, there was some concern within NBC News about whether Farrow's involvement in the story created a conflict of interest.

It was never determined how the Post got the explosive tape from the show, which is produced by NBC. Portions of the audio - which stemmed from the investigation into charges made by model and actress Ambra Battilana Gutierrez - was released with The New Yorker story and has been played incessantly as major media outlets have picked up Farrow's reporting.

"Look, you would have to ask NBC and NBC executives about the details of that story". And he has threatened to sue the New York Times for its October 5 story detailing lurid harassment claims and eight settlements paid over many years.

"By several accounts, at least eight women claiming to have been sexually harassed, abused, or assaulted by Weinstein had agreed to go on camera - a lot of them anonymously in shadow, but two alleged victims with their names and faces", according to the Beast. "We supported him and gave him resources to report that story over many, many months".
