The President seems to be using the logic that since Puerto Rico's infrastructure and electric grid was outdated or poorly constructed that it's not the federal government's responsibility to help them rebuild.

The Category 4 storm hit four months after the territory sought protection from its creditors in the largest USA municipal bankruptcy in history, with $74 billion in bond debt and an additional $49 billion in pension obligations.

"Congress to decide how much to spend. We can not keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been awesome (under the most hard circumstances) in P.R. forever!"

Several lawmakers from hurricane-hit states said a third interim aid request is expected shortly - with a final, huge hurricane recovery and rebuilding package likely to be acted upon by the end of the year.

Trump also partially cited a quote from Sharyl Attkisson about Puerto Rico " surviving the hurricanes" and now facing a "financial crisis of their own making".

His tweets come at a time when only about 10 percent of the island's 3.4 million residents have electricity, Puerto Rico's government said Tuesday.

And Puerto Rico was destroyed, decimated, wiped out. The vast majority of the island remains without power and a good portion without clean drinking water.

The tribute to Puerto Rican music and dance allowed the western Massachusetts Hispanic community to share their pride and concerns for the people of Puerto Rico.

President Trump on Thursday threatened to cease relief efforts in Puerto Rico, where a humanitarian crisis has been underway for the past three weeks. "And we will be there every day until that happens".

Replying to Trump's tweet, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer asked the following question: "Why do you continue to treat Puerto Ricans differently than other Americans when it comes to natural disasters?"
