But an important detail from the Deadline article makes a good case for the departure of the main cast member.

Victor Garber is ending his run on DC's Legends of Tomorrow this season. The studio and network are not confirming but it seems inevitably true considering the amount of time to go into a Broadway production.

I first heard rumblings about a potential Garber exit last spring as Legends of Tomorrow was wrapping its second season. While no one would comment, a pending departure was inadvertently revealed in early September when it was announced that musical theater veteran Garber would return to Broadway, teaming with Bernadette Peters to headline the Tony-winning revival of Hello, Dolly!, taking over from David Hyde Pierce and Bette Midler. Garber takes over the role from David Hyde Pierce (with Peters stepping in for Bette Midler.) His first show is January 20. Although the physics professor made a decision to stay on the Waverider at the final moments of the episode, he only did so under the proviso that he would return to Central City 2017 in time for the childbirth of his daughter Lily (Christina Brucato).

Garber has been part of Legends of Tomorrow since the beginning of the series, making his debut as Professor Martin Stein on The Flash before he and Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (Franz Alhusaine Drameh) moved over to co-starring roles on the time travel show. Back then, Stein's Firestorm partner was Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell). He has appeared as a series regular since the show premiered.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs Tuesdays at 9pm ET following The Flash.

Actor Victor Garber is bidding the Arrowverse farewell.
