  • Video in Malaysian court shows practice before Kim attack

A Malaysian court has been shown airport security video where a Vietnamese murder suspect smeared something on a person's face two days before she allegedly attacked the half brother of North Korea's leader in the same manner.

The defense lawyers for both Huong and Siti Aisyah said the videos could be considered hearsay, as the investigating officer did not record them himself and was not present to witness the crime.

The money is now stored in a safe in the office of the police chief of the Sepang district, which has jurisdiction over the murder site, police official Wan Azirul Nizam Che Wan Aziz said.

He told deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin that the second suspect, Doan Thi Huong, also mentioned the same names to identify the four individuals when quizzed by him.

Another clip showed Siti meeting another man wearing a black cap at a restaurant, less than an hour before the attack.

The men's faces, however, can not be seen clearly.

Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Doan Thi Huong, 28, a Vietnamese, are charged with murdering Kim Jong Nam by smearing his face with VX, a chemical poison banned by the United Nations, at Kuala Lumpur airport on February 13.

Wan Azirul identified Mr. Y as a man seen in a video recording played in court.

The report of the group's confirmed position in the North Korean leadership comes at a time when Kim Jong Un may have promoted economic experts and his sister Kim Yo Jong to powerful seats in government, the Nikkei Asian Review reported Wednesday.

Huong and Siti Aisyah are accused of murdering Kim Jong Nam by smearing his face with liquid VX, a chemical poison banned by the United Nations.

He did not say whether the four suspects were North Koreans or whether they were the same four people who Malaysian police said left Kuala Lumpur for Pyongyang on the day of the killing.

Those four men - identified as North Koreans Ri Ji Hyon, Hong Song Hac, O Jong Gil, and Ri Jae Nam - are the subject of a red notice issued by Interpol, the closest instrument to an global arrest warrant.
