  • ATP Shanghai Dimitrov saves 3 MP's against Harrison! Zverev wins

World number one Rafael Nadal breezed into the quarter finals of the Shanghai Masters today.

Sixth seed Grigor Dimitrov, who saved match points on Wednesday against Ryan Harrison, had a more comfortable day as he beat American 10th seed Sam Querrey 6-3 7-6 (7-3).

Nadal required just one break of serve to claim the opening set, but Dimitrov showed resistance throughout the contest and deserved to take the left-hander to a tie-break in the second.

Cilic on the other hand advanced to the semi-finals without dropping a set.

Swiss veteran, Roger Federer will play Frenchman Richard Gasquet in another quarter-final pairing, while Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, will meet Serbian Victor Troicki. I'm happy I was able to do better today on the break points.

Rafael Nadal was forced to battle past Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov on Friday in three tough sets to reach the Shanghai Masters semifinals and a showdown with Marin Cilic.

In the game immediately after that close call, Nadal dampened Dimitrov's spirits further with a break of his own to lead 5-2 and serve out the set, although the latter played fiercely in his attempt to upset the favourite.

Ramos-Vinolas was off to a better start, with 2 easy holds and break points in each of the first 3 Marin's service games, but he failed to convert any of them.

Nadal and Cilic have met five times in the past, and the Spaniard has won in four of those clashes, per the official ATP World Tour website, the only win for Cilic coming in their first encounter all the way back in 2009.
