NTU beats NUS in university ranking - again

  • NTU emerges on top in QS Asia University Rankings

The University of San Carlos maintained its place in the 301-350 cluster, while Silliman University dipped to 351-400 cluster from 251-300 in the previous year. It was the topranked institute for the past two years.

In the faculty staff with PhD, the university has scored 51.1 whereas IIT Bombay, which has ranked the highest in the rankings among Indian institutions, has scored 96.3.

IIT Bombay has an overall score of 75.7 based on indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty to student ratio, papers attributable to per Faculty (Data from Scopus) and so on. The varsity's score in "citations per paper" dropped from 81.4 in 2017 rankings to 53.4 this year, indicating a drastic drop in quality of research work.The varsity, in recent years, has taken a beating in domestic as well as global rankings , As Reported By Hindustan Times. "This is a reflection of the excellent work being done by faculty members and students", said Director Devang Khakhar. QS Rankings assess universities based on academic and employer reputations, faculty-student ratio, citation per faculty, worldwide faculty and global students ratio.

"Universities, Institutions and IISC have their unique strengths and get different scores as per different criterion and parameters".

The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) in a surprise sweep, beat Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc) and climbed one spot up on the list of top 50 educational institutions in Asia, according to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings for 2018 which was released on Tuesday.
