  • Huge blow for Gareth Bale as Real Madrid release statement

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale could miss a month of action after suffering an adductor injury during training on Thursday.

The new injury will increase speculation that he could be sold by Real Madrid, who could use his fee to reinvest in new recruits.

Bale's latest injury is a further blow for Real coach Zinedine Zidane, with attacking pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema having struggled in front of goal in La Liga with each finding the target just once so far. After a blistering start to his career with Los Blancos, Bale's career has seen a decline, due to his several minor injuries and some major ones as well.

While Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Isco are all shoe-ins to start most games for Real, that final spot in the side's attacking quartet is very much up for grabs and Asensio, quite rightly, believes he has done enough over the a year ago to make that place his own and push Bale down the pecking order.

"Gareth has been injured for a long time", Madrid attacker Isco said before Spain's global friendly against Costa Rica on Saturday.

Gareth Bale's injuries have limited his appearances this season.

Bale hasn't played for Madrid since September when he was ruled unfit to play because of "swelling (.) to the soleus muscle of his left leg".
