The additional oomph has an influence on the performance specifications: 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) is achieved in a mere 3.2 seconds and it won't stop pushing until it reaches 180 mph (290 kph), again more than what the Exige 380 is capable of. Lotus are experts when it comes to making its cars ludicrously light, and the Exige 380 is no different.
Lotus Group CEO Jean-Marc Gales is confident that the abilities of the Unlimited Edition will exeed expectiations. Combined with its increased power, the Exige Cup 430's power-to-weight ratio has improved from 350-bhp per tonne in the Cup 380 to 401-bhp per tonne in the new model, while producing 220 kg of downforce. Instead they are touting "the most extreme Exige ever conceived" in the form of the newly developed limited edition Exige Cup 430.
The result is a 316kW/440Nm race-ready road auto which weighs in at a very healthy 1,056kg.
Unsurprisingly, carbon-fibre is the main material that contributes to this, and you'll find it on the front splitter, front access panel, roof, diffuser surround, air-intake side pods, one-piece tailgate and the motorsport-derived rear wing.
Stopping power comes courtesy of four-piston AP Racing brake calipers and new performance two-piece, J-hook brake discs. The Cup 430 also includes a steel roll-over bar, new seatbelt anchorage frame and a front towing eye as standard. That lap time makes it the fastest production auto ever to lap the historic track - even 1.2 seconds faster than the Lotus 3-Eleven road vehicle.
Jean-Marc Gales, CEO of Group Lotus plc, said: "This is the vehicle that we always wanted to build, and I am sure that all Lotus enthusiasts will be delighted with the end product".
Like the predecessor, the new Lotus Exige Cup 430 has under the hood a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder Toyota engine with a mechanical supercharger, while its productivity increased to 430 horsepower with 440 Nm of torque.
