  • 49ers eye Week 12 for Jimmy Garoppolo's debut as starter

Chances are, that will happen as early as the Niners' next game, which is November 26 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Offense: C.J. Beathard showed what he can do when he's not on his back for half of the game.

NY - thought to be a top defensive squad entering the season - has been outscored 106-45 during the teams current three game losing streak and will have to face the high octane Chiefs in MetLife Stadium next Sunday.

In what was easily the best performance of his young career, Beathard took advantage of an opponent with as many injury issues and more problems as his own team in leading the 49ers to their first victory of the season. San Francisco also got its first first down while holding a lead of the season on a 40-yard pass from Beathard to Louis Murphy in the third quarter. The 49ers did it on the strength of Beathard's big day. Neither one returned. 49ers LT Joe Staley (fractured orbital bone) returned to the starting lineup after missing one game. Staley immediately stabilized the offensive line and Beathard capitalized on the cleanest pocket he's had to work with since he became the starter on October 22.

In addition to the usual grit and toughness, Beathard produced. Celek beat linebacker Jonathan Casillas across the middle to snare Beathard's pass at the 30-yard line, then after a Goodwin block at the 25, Celek beat cornerback Janoris Jenkins down the left sideline to the goal line. At halftime, Beathard was 13-of-16 for 198 yards with the two touchdowns for a 157.8 passr rating.

The Giants came out looking awful and allowed a team that was 30th in teh league in scoring, put up a 30=spot on them en route to their first victory of the season.

This was a historically bad matchup, marking the first time in 33 years that two teams with only one combined win met this late in a season. Those arguments are understandable but nobody, especially the 49ers, wants to go winless. There have been many close games this year and some that made people think they should win this game, but it hasn't turned out that way. They have six games remaining on their schedule after the Week 11 bye.
