John Oliver kicked off the fourth season finale of his talk show Last Week Tonight with a "lightning recap of the week", which included a jab at Louis C.K, the latest in a string of men in Hollywood to be accused of sexual misconduct.

Stewart's response to Louis CK's alleged behavior generated criticism after video resurfaced of Stewart laughing off a question regarding Louis CK's inappropriate behavior during a May 2016 taping of David Axelrod's podcast "The Axe Files" at the University of Chicago.

During his short street interview, Stewart repeatedly focused on women being the sole victims of rampant sexual abuse in Hollywood. He told Lauer he was "stunned" by the reported behavior of Louis C.K., and added, "Comedy on its best day is not a great environment for women".

Later, the Daily Show host remembered the first time he had heard about the sexual misconduct accusations about Louis C.K., which he had been caught off guard with by an audience member while recording a podcast.

He spoke to the "blindness" of men in the comedy business like himself and said, "We're used to being in charge, and I think if you talk to women, they're in a very hard position".

The New York Times report about Louis C.K. caused a videotaped interaction between Stewart and a University of Chicago student from previous year to resurface.

During his Today show interview on Tuesday, the former Daily Show host addressed the claims made by multiple women who say the Louie star masturbated in front of them - and looking back, Stewart thinks more could have been done to stop the stand up's perverted "compulsions".

"I didn't see the tweets", he went on.

Stewart said he hasn't spoke with Louis C.K. since the New York Times bombshell report broke last Thursday. "I'm not that connected to that world". Stewart said. "I hope it changes". "What are you talking about?'" "[An audience member] said, "what do you think about the allegations against Louis C.K.?' My first response, was, 'what?' And then, joke, joke". He's always been a gentleman - to me.' Again, it speaks to the blindness I think a man has, which is like, 'Hey, he's a good guy! Following the Times report, HBO announced that C.K. would no "no longer be participating" in the benefit.
