Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is notorious for being a troublemaker in the National Football League, but at least one teammate believes all the blame shouldn't fall on the defender's shoulders. He arm out of the way on the sideline in the second quarter after quarterback Marcus Mariota was run out of bounds. An NFL spokesman denied those claims, telling Schefter it's not out of the ordinary for officials to come into contact with players. The second penalty was for making contact with a referee during an altercation with a Titans offensive lineman. Burfict was also whistled for a late hit on Titans running back DeMarco Murray two plays earlier.

On his way out of the stadium, Burfict appeared to be jawing and flashing money gestures with his hands to the booing crowd. He initially had been suspended for five games but had the punishment reduced after appealing.

Burfict missed the first three games of the season for an illegal hit against Anthony Sherman of the Kansas City Chiefs in the previous season.
