  • With Panthers WR Curtis Samuel out for season, Mike Shula talks replacement plan

The Carolina Panthers may have won against the Miami Dolphins but suffered a key loss with Curtis Samuel suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

Samuel injured his left ankle in the third quarter of Monday's contest against the Miami Dolphins, taking an awkward fall after dropping a Cam Newton pass in the endzone.

He ends his season with 15 catches for 115 yards and four carries for 64 yards.

Samuel, a second-round pick, twisted his right ankle in the preseason. But when wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was traded to the Buffalo Bills two weeks ago, Samuel assumed a starting role alongside Devin Funchess. Damiere Byrd is expected to come off injured reserve in early December. We believe very strongly that our audience should have an opportunity to discuss and debate events in our world, however, we have not been able to moderate the comments as well as we would like.

"It's kind of a collective effort", Shula said. There are some guys on our team that would say yes.

Curtis Samuel's rookie season is over after 9 games. "Every play we've got guys going in and out, and we hardly missed a beat as far as guys going to different positions from one play to another".
