Each year between Thanksgiving and Christmas volunteers from several different organizations and churches in the area go out to local stores and ring bells, asking for donations to be placed in red buckets to help the hungry and poor in Bingham County and other counties in the area.

Cindy Adams, President and CEO of Aloha United Way, Major John Chamness, Divisional Leader of The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division, Denise Yamauchi, Managing Director Burger King Hawaii (Kazi Restaurants of Hawaii) from previous year's Angel Tree Campaign. However the kettle funds are not just for Christmas but all year-long.

Over the four years, Burger King Hawai'i guests have donated more than $37,000 in support of the program.

Kettles will be placed in three locations as of November 23 to give the Salvation Army more time to meet its goal. Additionally, The Salvation Army served over one million hot meals statewide past year.

"I think people in this community like to help, and they know there's a certain number we need, they get it done", said Shrum.

As of next week, Salvation Army kettles will be distributed at locations around town.

"What the community gives us, we give back".

The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is now ready for families to apply for Christmas assistance this holiday season - including food and toys. "The only difference between you and a police officer is that they are getting paid to do those things". The bell ringing continues until December 23.
