Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 Delayed by Ubisoft

  • The Assassin's Creed Origins Photo Competition begins today

Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 will be delayed, Ubisoft announcemed today in a brief blog post. In the case of The Crew 2, little has been seen of the game just yet. That's been revised from February 27, 2018.

Considering the state Far Cry 5 was in when we checked it out at IGX 2017, this doesn't come as a surprise.

The French gaming giant said Thursday it push back the launch of Far Cry 5 about a month from it's original February 2018 date.

The reason for these three delays is due to the commercial success Ubisoft saw commercially with Assassin's Creed Origins following its longer development time, which "enabled [their] development team to fully express their creative vision".

In addition to this, racing game The Crew 2 has shifted to the first half of the next fiscal year. Taking the extra time to work out any issues in Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 is a smart business decision, as players are more likely to play a complete game free of bugs and other such frustrations.

Announced in a press release sent to Glixel this morning, Ubisoft said it would be "investing more time" into each of the games, though it didn't elaborate much further on why they were delayed.

'Taking a similar approach, we have chose to invest additional development time in three upcoming games'.

Alain Martinez, Chief Financial Officer, stated "Our back-catalog performance throughout November followed the same excellent trends as in the first half of the year and sales for Assassin's Creed Origins continued their positive launch trajectory".
