"He should never have access to children again", Judge Neff said during court proceedings, per MLive.

Nassar's guilty plea this summer was secured in a deal with the U.S. Attorney's Office, who agreed not to prosecute him for alleged sexual exploitation or attempted sexual exploitation of four child victims, including an incident in 2015 in his swimming pool.

U.S. District Judge Janet Ness gave Nassar, a former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor, a sentence that was the toughest possible for three charges to which he admitted guilt in July. USA Gymnastics sent him to nearly every summer Olympic Games, from 1996 in Atlanta - where he was photographed in the iconic image of an injured Kerri Strug being helped off a platform - to London in 2012.

McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas - three members of the United States of America gymnastics team that won gold at the 2012 London Olympics - are among those who've come forward with allegations of sexual abuse by Nassar. "We now know that this was a lie".

Once one of the most respected sports physicians in the country specializing in treating gymnasts, Nassar's swift downfall started last August, when a woman filed a police report alleging Nassar had assaulted her during a medical examination years prior, when she was a 15-year-old gymnast in MI seeking treatment for back pain.

"I. learned a few weeks ago from my daughter that at the world championships in Tokyo, [Nassar] drugged her, made her lay nude on a treatment table, straddled her and digitally penetrated her while rubbing his erect penis against her", Erin wrote. "She said to me, 'Mom I thought I was going to die'".

"I can not tell you the anguish her Dad and I feel and the responsibility we feel for not being aware of this or being able to stop it".

She remembers waking up from the team's flight, on which Nassar had given her a sleeping pill, and waking up naked in the doctor's hotel room.

Maroney says that Nassar sexually abused her for years and was scheduled to deliver a victim-impact statement on Thursday.

"It's something, your honor, I'm very ashamed of", Nassar said, per MLive.

Erin wrote USA Gymnastics failed her daughter and the abuse "shattered Mckayla" to become deeply depressed. "At times, I was unsure whether I would open her bedroom door and find her dead".

Student athletes at Michigan State also accused Nassar of assault.

The sentence, handed down by a judge in Grand Rapids, Mich., ensures that Nassar, 54, likely will spend the rest of his life in prison. "End of story! He abused my trust, he abused my body and he left scars on my psyche that may never go away".

Nassar is accused of sexually abusing over 140 women and girls. He faces up to life in prison on those charges when he's sentenced on January 12 in Ingham County and January 31 in Eaton County.
