Google Shuts Down Chrome Apps From Web Store, Moves to PWAs

Googlesaid, that the apps already installed in Chrome shall no longer functional by early 2018. We've also long since known that Google would drop Chrome web apps from Linux, Mac and Windows. The company explained that it made a decision to shutter apps from the Chrome browser simply because not a lot of people were actually using them.
If you're wondering whether you'll miss out on much, don't worry: as Ars Technica noted, many Apps were essentially little more than bookmarks for webpages, with the added benefit of being able to access them from various parts of Chrome's interface.
The blog post reads: "Chrome Apps will be removed from Chrome Web Store search & browse functions in mid-December 2017". This is the plug-in point for password managers, script and ad blockers, mail checkers, and even the occasional fully fledged app, like Google Hangouts for Chrome. Well, almost a year-and-half later Google has completed the job and now, Chrome browser will not be able to access or install any apps from the store.
For Chromebook users, or ChromeOS users chrome apps will continue to work there and you will get regular updates from the app developers. Chromebooks are already capable of running some Android apps and apps on the Chrome browser would seem redundant. "The Chrome browser will continue to load packaged and hosted apps on Windows, Mac, and Linux beyond the previously announced deprecation timeline".
