Richard Sherman, San Francisco 49ers to meet today

Thomas Davis may have provided a clue to how he feels when the Panthers' veteran linebacker posted a picture on Instagram of him and Sherman together on Friday.

The release means Sherman - who is acting as his own agent - can get a head start on finding his next team. On March 1, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he expected Sherman to remain in walking boot for a few more weeks. But some players, including former Panthers defenders Jon Beason and Charles Godfrey, needed two seasons before they returned to their pre-Achilles surgery form. Sherman expects to be ready for the regular season but could be limit in August for training camp and parts of the preseason.

For starters, Sherman's coming off an Achilles injury.

Asked by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network on Friday what he wants out of a new team, Sherman said: "Looking for a great fit".

Will Richard Sherman's foray into free agency be brief? Coleman replaced Lane as the nickel corner spot early in the 2017 and Seattle initially included Lane in a trade to Houston for left tackle Duane Brown before Lane failed a physical and returned to the Seahawks. Saleh has implemented a defensive system that is similar to the Seahawks. In 2013, Sherman led the National Football League with eight interceptions, and his 32 career picks rank sixth among active players.

While it sounds good on paper, bringing Sherman into an already crowded cornerback group wouldn't be the most ideal situation unless he chose to take quite a hefty pay cut from the terms that he has grown accustomed to in recent years.
