ACC tournament roundup: Duke ends Notre Dame's run

Virginia Tech will host a Selection Sunday viewing party on Sunday at Cassell Coliseum, with the doors opening at 6 p.m. The Fighting Bobby Hurleys have just three Quadrant 1 wins and an 8-9 record against the top two Quadrants with two Quadrant 3 losses, but they have happen to have the best pair of wins of any team in the country, beating Kansas in Phog Allen Fieldhouse and knocking off Xavier on a neutral court.

Duke's Marvin Bagley III (35) dunks over Notre Dame's Martinas Geben (23) and Bonzie Colson (35) in the first half.

"We beat a really good team tonight", Krzyzewski said.

ST. LOUIS - Missouri standout Michael Porter Jr. will return from back surgery to play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Thursday, marking his first time in a game since the season opener. The Blue Devils led 25-17 at that juncture behind 12 of Grayson Allen's 23 points.

It started out as a typical Duke game from this year.

While a narrow loss at top-ranked Virginia last Saturday was certainly a respectable outcome, Notre Dame probably didn't achieve the style points it wanted at the ACC tournament.

Duke led 41-37 at halftime despite only one field goal across the final six minutes. Defensively, Notre Dame basketball yields 68.1 points per game against the opposing teams. The Blue Devils hit 14 of their first 23 shots.

"We're excited about what the next challenge is in postseason, whatever it may be because we're feeling a little better about where we are physically", Brey said.

Here's what the latest NCAA Tournament projections are showing for the Irish.

Similar to the Marquette game, the Irish were able to respond with the final run of the game. Devon Hall went for 14 points and five assists.

They are now in the "Next Four Out" category in our Bracketology and a win against Duke tomorrow still might not be enough.

"Our bigs do a heck of a job of (keeping the ball alive)", Hall said. "I mean, just look at, even with those three games, we're right there". And our bigs, on our own shots, they crash the glass.

The second half was a different story for Duke on defense.

Spalding finished with 16 points for Louisville.

Virginia Tech men's basketball.

Clemson was 20-of-22 at the free-throw line and held a 17-5 advantage in points off turnovers. They forced help, made some threes.

"But in the locker room, Coach Brey left it up to us". "I told our guys I liked our rhythm". The broken left foot that cost him 15 games this season is no longer an issue. The underdogs could not get enough stops against Clemson in an offensive shootout.

Baylor lost four of five down the stretch to play itself out.

CHRIS CLARKE: I would also say no, as Coach and Justin just said.

"When you lose seven games in a row and you're under.500, you're talking and dreaming about making a run to get to the bubble, which I'm very proud that we did". "They just came to work every single day".

In a physical game, the Tar Heels were tested by the No. 3 Hurricanes, but ultimately prevailed behind another strong performance by Theo Pinson. No. 12 North Carolina (24-9) won the tournament in 2016. Pinson later went coast-to-coast for a loud two-handed slam to keep UNC ahead 71-65 with 3:28 to play.

Justin Robinson was one of the leading scorers for Tech, scoring 15 points in addition to snagging two rebounds and seven assists.
