Malaga vs Barcelona: Why Messi will miss LaLiga clash

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi announced the birth of his third son on Saturday.

Meanwhile Malaga, who were the last side to beat Barcelona in La Liga, back on 8 April 2017, look doomed to relegation with the club eleven points adrift of safety with just ten games remaining.

Barcelona said early Saturday that Messi would miss a match at Malaga later in the day for "personal reasons".

"(Dembele) is a player who needs time. "We're Barca and there's a lot of pressure here, so for that reason there's been a lot of focus on him". And he can also create, as we saw with the second goal.

The win moves Levante four points clear of 18th-placed Las Palmas, who have a match in hand. They're a strong side, they defend together.

It emerged after the game that Real defender Sergio Ramos was forced to take a toilet break during the second half. We scored the two goals, we could have scored more and they have had the red card for Samuel [Garcia].

The Blaugrana initially announced the omission of the Argentina global due to "personal reasons", but later on social media, he posted a picture confirming his wife Antonella Roccuzzo has given birth.

The Catalan giants were in action on Wednesday evening, as they defeated Espanyol 4-2 on penalties in the Supercopa de Catalunya, although the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta were rested.
