3 reasons Rams should consider signing Jordy Nelson following release

According to a source associated with Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Green Bay Packers are releasing veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson.

There had been a lot of talk in recent days about a reunion between Graham and the New Orleans Saints, the team that traded him to Seattle in 2015.

The Green Bay Packers are bringing in one top receiving option, but they're also getting rid of another.

In three seasons with the Seahawks, Graham played in 45 games, recorded 176 receptions for 2,104 yards and 18 touchdowns. Prior to that, he was a member of the Saints. But there's little doubt that Jordy Nelson will be sorely missed because you can't easily replace that production (although that was the case in '15).

But Nelson - who caught nine balls for 140 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' Super Bowl XLV triumph - just couldn't revive his downfield playmaking penchant last season with Brett Hundley at the controls.

The Packers will release longtime receiver Jordy Nelson to save cap room. "He has been an exemplary professional and teammate and greatly contributed to our success".

Initially, there was some speculation that Nelson could return to the team on a smaller deal.

Speaking at the National Football League scouting combine in Indianapolis last month, Gutekunst didn't sound as if he meant to cut Nelson. A second-round pick in 2008 from Kansas State, he's hauled in 550 passes for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns.
