Cong MLAs expelled for attack on T'gana Guv

Comparing the protests staged by the TRS members in the then united AP Assembly to that of legendary freedom fighter Bhagath Singh, who revolted against the British, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao said Congress members, in order to cover up the "barbaric act" of their colleague, were trying to draw parallels between the two acts. The Governor, however, continued his address highlighting various welfare and development programmes of the government. Castigating the Congress members for belittling the democratic values and dignity of the House with their "violent behaviour", he observed that such acts can not be pardoned.

The Congress members were stopped at the Well of the House by marshalls.

Some MLAs also tore copies of the speech and flung it in the air in protest.

The governor, in his address, said Telangana, the youngest state of the Indian Union, had become a role model for the entire country. When they stood up for the national anthem after the Governor's address, "another headphone came and directly hit my eye...", the Chairman said. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and so-me ministers also visited Mr Goud in hospital. The suspended members included Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy. "When there is a right to express protest by going into the well even in Parliament, the temple of democracy, about 50 police personnel were deployed in Telangana Assembly as per the Chief Minister's orders", he alleged. The matter came up for discussion in the business advisory committee (BAC) meeting and it was chose to give powers to the Speaker to take any action on this issue. The other Congress members suspended were T. Jeevan Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, C. Chinna Reddy, Mallu Batti Vikramarka, Rammohan Reddy, Vamsidhar Reddy, Madhava Reddy, J.Geetha Reddy, D.K. Aruna and Padmavathi Reddy.

As per reports, the leaders' broke microphones and threw them towards the podium where the Governor was seated.

He said there are several precedents in other states.

He said measures were taken to supply the Krishna and the Godavari waters to farmers and quality 24-hour power supply was being provided to farm sector.
