Fitbit Ace kids wearable helps parents track activity levels

"Ionic was just a first step".

Arguably, the Versa's most interesting capability is what Fitbit calls female health tracking. I used the watch during a brief but intense workout, and I was impressed with its new design.

It has numerous same features as the Ionic, and some new ones, too.

When it comes to Fitbit Pay, the company's wearable payment service, the situation is a little. unusual.

On the left hand edge there's a power button, and there are two other hardware buttons on the right hand side of the watch for navigating through menus if you don't want to use the screen. Most standard fitness trackers nowadays can track your steps taken, distance traveled, how ... There will also be a $229.95 Versa Special Edition that includes support for Fitbit Pay and comes in a graphite aluminum case with a woven charcoal band, or a rose gold case with a lavender band.

Announced by Fitbit today, the Versa is described as an "intuitive" smartwatch for communication and health and fitness. With the smaller design, the Versa's is the lightest weight smartwatch made of metal now on the market, Fitbit says.

When it comes to its functionality, the Versa allows you to view alerts from your smartphone - this includes text messages, app notifications, phone calls, and calendar events, among others. The Fitbit Versa Special Edition will be available for Rs. 21,999. The massive Ionic model only looked good on people with big wrists and came in mostly masculine color schemes. Fitbit also claims that the Versa is the lightest metal smartwatch in the United States, if that is something you are concerned with. "From its handsome design to its personalized guidance, Versa will help empower you to take action, make the most of every moment, and reach your goals". USA or Australian pricing has yet to be confirmed, so that may be a bit different when we hear from Fitbit.

Fitbit will also start giving users guidance for menstrual cycles, ovulation, fertility and common misconceptions. "We wanted to be the first to give women a complete picture of their health".

In addition to the Fitbit Ace the company announced the Fitbit Versa today. It costs nearly $100 and will ship in Q2 this year. But Fitbit is obviously hoping that you will. Parents can add to the ace to a family account on their own mobile device to track their kids' activity. While Mom and Dad might choose to strap on a Versa, Fitbit now has a fitness tracker - the Fitbit Ace - meant exclusively for wee ones. Apple shifted around 2.7m Watches in the second quarter of previous year, according to analyst firm Canalys.

There is a wide range of bands available for the Fitbit Verse and it looks like the company is working to take on the Apple Watch in terms of fashion accessories. But at $300, it was almost the price of an Apple Watch with fewer capabilities. The Versa doesn't allow you to download songs from Apple Music or Spotify, but it does have enough internal storage to store mp3 files (so you can upload songs directly from an iTunes library, for example, and save them to the smartwatch). I don't like that Fitbit sacrificed Global Positioning System to trim down the watch, though Global Positioning System isn't a must-have for most people.

Those planning to track their swimming laps need to go with the Apple Watch Series 3, though. This is a huge deal, because all of those metrics are so deeply intertwined.

The Versa is available for pre-order now on Fitbit's website right for £199.99 and will start shipping in April.

We'll get the Fitbit Versa in for a full review, so be sure to check back once we've put it through its paces.
