Blue Ivy goes viral for bidding $19k on art

The six-year-old daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z joined her famous parents at the Wearable Art Gala - which was organised by the "Formation" hitmaker's mother, Tina Lawson, and her husband Richard - at the Alexandria Ballrooms in Los Angeles, and a piece of art caught her eye when it went under the hammer.

Blue Ivy initially bid $17,000 for an acrylic painting of a young Sidney Poitier. Jay-Z jokingly tried to pull the paddle away from her and tug her arm down while the auctioneer expressed admiration that the family had instilled in little Blue the importance of building an art collection.

Tyler Perry then bid $20,000 and won the art piece. Her mother and father have been talking about how you gather art, and that is a big deal for African Americans. I love you. I am inspired by you.

The hilarious moment was captured on social media and has since gone viral. 'Yes! Baby girl. Let me tell you what is happening. The youngster successfully bid $10,000 for a Samuel Levi Jones artwork, according to Vanity Fair. At one point, Blue Ivy even attempted to outbid herself.

The magazine said Beyoncé also made a winning bid of $17,000 on a set of Lorraine Schwartz panther earrings that she had previously worn to an event.

The evening was full of wins for the couple Jennifer Lawrence has dubbed the "king and queen of Hollywood" with Bey taking home the 2018 Waco Theater Humanitarian Award and Jay-Z's mother Gloria Carter receiving the Everyday People Award. Beyoncé and Blue wore matching gold gowns that stayed true to the event's theme "From WACO to Wakanda".
