Saturday Night Takeaway: Dec hosts without Ant

Saturday Night Takeaway: Dec hosts without Ant

"That other bloke was good - you should do some more stuff with him", he joked after Ant made an appearance in Saturday Knight Takeaway.

During the show, which aired live on Saturday (31 March), Dec only briefly touched on Ant's absence, making light of the situation a few times during the show.

Taking to Twitter, Dec wrote: 'Thanks for all your lovely messages tonight, they are VERY much appreciated, I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Dec then took the opportunity to bid farewell to The London Studios, home to Saturday Night Takeaway since 2002, and wandered the corridors of the soon-to-close Southbank building where he and Ant also filmed SM:TV Live.

The Sun exclusively revealed Ant stands to lose up to £3.3million for missing work on Britain's Got Talent and I'm A Celebrity this year.

Tonight's Saturday Night Takeaway featured Stephen Merchant on duty as the Star Guest Announcer, and Stephen Mulhern took to the streets of Warrington for In for a Penny.

And it's now being claimed that bosses of the beloved ITV show are "panicking" over how they should address Ant's absence in Saturday's episode.

Although officially hosting solo, Dec was supported by presenter Davina McCall as part of a new segment related to McCall's own show, This Time Next Year.

He was right. Dec did do a remarkably good job of holding the format together for its 90-minute broadcast.

Dec didn't mention his co-presenter's absence directly this evening, but thanked viewers for "all of their support" at the end of the show.

Dec, 42, who recently confirmed he is going to be a father, will also present next week's final episode in Florida.

Ant has checked himself back into rehab following his drink-driving charge, he is set to appear in court on April 4.
