Mary Jane Is Playable For The First Time In 'Spider-Man'

After being announced at E3 two years ago, we finally know when we can get our hands on Insomniac Games' PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game.

The first Spider-Man game since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (if you aren't counting Spiderman Lizard Clone) was released in 2014 will be hitting shelves on September 7, 2018. Pre-orders for the game are up digitally on the PlayStation Store and multiple big-box retailers, and the studio also revealed a deluxe and collector's edition to boot. At the moment, the Collector's Edition is available to pre-order at GameStop and BestBuy (with 20% Gamers Club Unlocked discount). It seems the only way to play this promising new game is via Sony's PlayStation 4.

And a $149.99 (UK price TBA) physical collector's edition will include all of the above, along with a steelbook case, a mini artbook, and a Spider-Man statue. You will be getting three new chapters each with new missions, new villains and characters, and additional suits for Spider-Man. According to the Daily Star's James Wright, the release of Spider-Man comes about seven weeks prior to when the other game will be on the market. In a new preorder trailer from Sony, you can get a good look at Peter in action while also receiving a glimpse at some of the bonuses you'll get if you preorder a copy today.

Based on what the Nerdist's Blair Marnell reports, the new Spider-Man game looks rather incredible.

As you've probably heard by now, Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 is swinging your way on September 7th. Those who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive a limited edition collectible pin. The pin features Spider-Man from the game's cover. A bit of a wait, not in the prime of summer as many of us were hoping but at least it's coming this year!
