Siddaramaiah: Fake list of Congress candidates for Karnataka polls in circulation

The BJP is likely to release the second list of its candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections on Wednesday.

Top Congress leaders from the state and the AICC on Monday held threadbare discussions on 100 Assembly seats falling in Belagavi and Myusru revenue divisions, identifying the party's strength and weaknesses in each constituency.

"I worked as the president of youth congress committee, joint secretary for State youth congress, president for Davanagere INTECH, district youth congress general secretary and in other capacities", he said. While the Congress has picked incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as its CM face, the BJP has nominated former CM B S Yeddyurappa.

The BJP has released its first list of 72 candidates for the Karnataka legislative assembly elections, after a meeting of leaders presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He found mention in the first list of candidates, with the BJP fielding him from Alzalpur constituency. The last date for filing the nominations is April 24, while April 27 is the last date of withdrawal of candidature.

With polls round the corner, national level politics will also have a bearing on Karnataka. "Later, in the days to come remaining candidates list will be announced", he told reporters here.

He said no list of party candidates has been finalised yet as there has been no meeting of the central selection committee.

BJP becomes the second party after Janata Dal (Secular) to announce a limited candidate list for the 12 May polls, that is fast turning into one of the most fiercely contested polls in recent times. The BJP has also fielded its Lok Sabha MP B Sriramulu in the polls.
