Cherry doesn't agree with one-game suspension for Kings defenceman Doughty

The only noticeable absence was that of David Perron (and it's unclear whether or not he'll play in Game 2 on Friday).

The first period of Game 2 would best be summed up by saying that both teams played well despite stoppages due to clock problems.

"I thought we really caught them off guard a little bit with how physical we were and couple guys were probably a little shaken up on their end", says right wing Alex Tuch.

"Hopefully they have me, but I don't know", Doughty said after Kings practice Thursday. The Golden Knights need to be praised for their stingy defense for the rest of the game as the Kings simply could not find the back of the net for the entire 60 minutes.

Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier, Shayne Gostisbehere, Nolan Patrick and Andrew MacDonald each scored one goal and Philadelphia defeated Pittsburgh to even the best-of-seven playoff series at one game apiece at PPG Paints Arena.

The Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets (4-1 against the Minnesota Wild) each won Friday to take a 2-0 lead in their playoff series. Quick stopped 54 shots for the Kings.

The loss of Doughty for Game 2 could have a devastating effect on defense for the Kings, who lost Game 1 at Vegas 1-0.

"That's the way we play the game", Doughty said.

"That was probably halfway through the season, and we went in both those buildings and we got two wins in both of those games". The most-surprising storyline of the 2017-18 season was the success of the Las Vegas Golden Knights. "They won their two home games so we have to go home and get to work". Those two wins improved the Golden Knights to 19-9-1.

The Los Angeles Kings hope to tie this series up at 1-1 before flying back home for game three.

The first overtime game in the history of the Golden Knights was the longest in the history of the Kings; it was 40 seconds longer than their championship-clinching win against the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Final. "Obviously that last goal, Haula's speed created a lot of that goal", said Gallant, who got the victory exactly one year after being hired as coach of the Golden Knights.

"(Quick) gave us a chance to win like he always does", Kings coach John Stevens said. "I saw four hits last that deserve more games than that so we'll see what he does now". After Shea Theodore's goal 3:23 into the first period, it turned into a defensive battle with a hint of goaltending.
