Colon loses ideal game in eighth inning

Robinson Chirinos homered and drove in three runs on Sunday, powering the Rangers to a 3-1 victory over the Astros in 10 innings.

Colon still had the no-hitter intact, but lost it on the next batter when Josh Reddick doubled down the right field line. Two outs later, he was removed with the score tied at 1.

In the dugout, Colon's teammates left him all alone on the bench - adhering to traditional superstition - as he grinned and tossed a ball to himself.

Colon, 44, would have become the oldest Major League Baseball pitcher to throw a no-hitter.

Nolan Ryan (44 years, 90 days) is the oldest player to throw a no-hitter and Randy Johnson (40 years, 252 days) is the oldest player to throw a flawless game. The Rangers would go on to beat the Astros, 3-1, in 10 innings.
