Prince William Hints At Son's Name; Will He Be Called Prince Alexander?

(Source: AP) Kate Middleton's third child is fifth in line for the royal throne.

When William greeted Sir Jerry Mateparae, the New Zealand High Commissioner to the United Kingdom at Westminster Abbey, Mateparae suggested the prince name his son Jerry.

Prince William, while getting into his vehicle, said, "We're very happy but thrice anxious now".

Arthur and James are among bookmakers' favorites for the new prince, whose full title will be His Royal Highness, Prince (Name) of Cambridge.

When William eventually takes over the title, if Prince Charles ascends the throne as expected, the new baby will also be Prince X of Wales.

Ever since, royalists around the globe have speculated on what the baby's name will be.

The names of royal babies are historically not announced straight away, leaving the nation playing a guessing game until the chosen one is finally revealed.

While interest in their third child has been more muted than with the birth of their first, large numbers of photographers and broadcasters from around the globe massed outside the hospital, along with some dedicated royal fans.

And of course we all marveled at how well the duchess looked just hours after giving birth.

Just before her sister Kate gave birth to the new royal baby, Pippa Middleton was reportedly kicked out of a London supermarket.

The Middleton family has converged on Kensington Palace. When a well-wisher brought up the name "Alexander", William responded, cryptically, "Funny you should say that". It was announced on Twitter and also proclaimed in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace with a framed notice perched on a golden easel.

The Duke of Cambridge may have given a hint to naming his newborn son when he described a Kiwi guest as having a "strong name".

Since the announcement was made, the British public have been guessing what the little one, who's the youngest sibling to Prince George (4) and Princess Charlotte (2), will be named.
